Computing has replaced ICT in the September 2014 National Curriculum.

Computing skills and concepts are taught on a timetabled basis using our two class sets of laptops. These skills are then applied right across the curriculum using the laptops or PCs located in each classroom.

We have also recently purchased tablets and are in the process of integrating these into the curriculum too.

Wireless provision across the school allows children to access the internet, printers and their personal electronic portfolios.

Computing is now split into two key areas:

• Digital Literacy – children learn how to find, evaluate, utilise, share and create content using information technologies and the internet. This includes learning key skills such as word processing, data handling (using spreadsheets), multimedia presentations and emailing.
• Computer Science – children learn the principles of computation and how digital systems work. They learn to design, write and debug programmes and develop logical reasoning to solve problems.

At the heart of our computing curriculum however is e-safety. Children are taught how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly.
